Having slept away most of the day listlessly while working on and off on my work-at-home newsletter publication, I was just wondering what kind of home remedies other people had for the flu. If I understand correctly the chicken soup has been scientifically proven to build antibodies to combat the common flu.
We as Taiwanese have a concoction that is a mixture of heavily flavored Ginseng tea coupled with Ginger and Honey, it goes down smoothly and allegedly has medicinal properties.

lots of TheraFlu and blankets for the chills...

and I believe there's a night-time formula TheraFlu so that's almost as good as NyQuil...

and serious gaming during waking hours can sometimes help you forget how shitty you're feeling, if only for a little while...

;)

Chicken Noodle Soup or Broth, plenty of rest, Ginger Ale, TheraFlu, Nyquil, someone to care about you(TLC), and cut the world off for the time being until you emerge healthy once more.

bokmeow, sad to hear you're sick buddy. I had a bad cold last week, I think because of excessive drinking on a Friday night that caused it (weakened immune system). Anyhow, I've been taking echinacea caplets every day since then and I was taking Tylenol severe cold/flu (liquid cherry) at night for the 1st 3 worst nights (I was taking the the full dose every night, it's hard to wake up the next day, so set your alarm clock for an hour to hit the snooze bar if you have to be somewhere like work or school). During the day I was taking Dayquil geltabs. Also was using cough drops, but they didn't do crap. Still have been having a runny nose. I really need to not drink so much on the weekends.

By the way, I like a Taiwanese girl at the moment. Got any pointers for me?

Give her a Bonzai tree instead of flowers on the next date .... :tickled:

But seriously, load up on vitamin C, zinc, and fluids, and get plenty of rest - even when you might not feel like you need it. I'm not sure about the medicinal properties of chicken soup, but personally I find warm soup soothing when I'm sick, so I'd recommend it in that capacity.

Oh, and it's very important that you don't return back to work/chores when your "almost well". This opens you up to a relapse and you'll probably end up losing time, and feeling much worse for a longer period of time.

geting drunk off nyquil, and passing out on the couch usually works for me.

I crave vitamin C rich foods whenever I'm sick, and I usually end up eating about 10 oranges a day when I have the flu.

Also, fluids are good.
