The arcade game. Plays alot like space harrier except you don't fly, had an aiming system like Nam-75.

I'd completely forgotten about this game. Played the hell out of it when I was a kid in the arcades. Just got ahold of the ROM. Still a pretty fun ass game. If you liked Space Harrier and/ or Nam-75 I suggest giving it a try.

*raises hand* I certainly do. Got the ROM, as well. Great to play through when you just want to blow a ton of shit up. :D

I saw a copy of it up and running in a PCB store last year. Up until then I never even knew it existed.

You're right, it's a neat little game.

G.I. Joe...a Konami classic...an excellent game in 4 player mode and is as good if not better than the other Konami gem Devestators, which is another great shoot-em-up game :buttrock:

Yeah I remember G.I. JOE, it was not an original game but rather a rehash of an earlier "Cold War" Politically Incorect game where you ran up into the screen killing commies. It was nothing like NAM-75 though, it was more of a faux 3-D that went into the screen as you progressed forward. While G.I. JOE was an alright game I'll still take the original =

the funny thing with BOTH games, {even with G.I. JOE running off the "Devastators" engine years later in the 90's} is that BOTH titles were hardly seen anywhere, or at least most people I talk to never saw them in the arcades, but the games are listed as "Wide Releases" ???

OMG you took me way back. G.I. Joe the arcade game, another illustration I can give it, think Contra 3-D stages and Cabal combined. Now that it's mentioned, I recall banging my head whether the arcade game was by Konami or Capcom. I recall on the control panel, it had this mosiac design and all the white blocks in the pattern said "Capcom" on it.

I have both of the NES games, is Atlantis Factor a US-only game?

To this day on the first GI Joe from Taxan, I am still stuck on the 2nd and 3rd stage where you have to search and disarm the bombs.

Know what I'm starting to brainstorm over new ideas for a 3-D GI Joe for PS2, GC and XBox already. 4 player action like the upcoming TMNT2.

It happens to be my second favorite Snake-Eyes design. He had it in the Marvel comic for about a year in the early '90s. They also used it in the crap cartoon from DIC (which followed the original Sunbow cartoon). The only version I like better is the original. And I never really liked the second version which seems the most popular (the one everyone remembers), where he's wearing the shades with the slats in them, seen in most episodes of the Sunbow cartoon. Too much like a super hero or something. At least in this version, he looks more like a bad ass SWAT guy or something.

I got a chance to try the game today (I am going to have to break down and get an X-Box at some point), and it was actually pretty fun. It's no Space Harrier, though. One thing I noticed was that somehow, in this game, Snake-Eyes has gained the ability of speech.

I've only played the C=64 version of GI Joe, I guess it's about the same as one of the NES versions. I don't remember all details, but it started with a pic of a huge cannon, then you had to walk/drive through a mine field or something like that with different vehicles (?)... I really loved it and played it for months, but I also remember that it was very difficult.

Yo who remember's Action Force THE MOVIE ( G.I JOE to you guys ) with my boy Falcon kicking ass and with SGT Slaughter and his famous saying '' WE ALL GO HOME OR NOBODY GOES HOME''
Also when Duke got that snake dart through his heaRt by that yellow cobra boss dude, the one who made Cobra a proper snake with the spores.
Well remember at the end Falcon looks upto the sky and says '' thats for you big brother'' and you hear Duke is alright and is gonna make it at the end via the radio, well Duke should have really died, that's why Falon looks upto the sky but after the bad reaction of Transformers the Movie when Prime died, G.I JOE producers decided to change the ending

This game reminds me more of Cabal than Nam 1975 any day of the week.

Nice scalling FX for its time.
