I'm looking for a decent digital camera, nothing fancy just one capable of taking decent pictures of games for Ebay etc..

The one I've got now is ok but it will only take decent pictures if the lighting is perfect and during daylight. Even then it's horribly inconsistent :(

Not looking to spend much as I only need it for games, cds etc..

Any recommendations?

Thank you.

I suggest either a Canon or Nikon.

A Canon A75 will suit your needs. There are cheaper alternatives but I trust the Canon brand. One man's opinion :)

FANTASTIC advice, I second what Lastblade mentioned above. I have a Canon A80 4MP and it has been a GREAT camera, and now Canon has a few new models out including a 5MP A95 and 7.1MP G6. Go for a lower level Canon like the A75 though, good price and great quality!

How are these in lower light and also how is the speed in taking a shot? I hate how my Elph takes like 10 seconds to lock on a picture. Lots of blinking by then.

I hear CVS now has the disposable digital cameras available for sale. If you don't want to plunk down for investment, this isn't such a bad idea either.

Comes with a preview screen and all. Absolutely nuts.

Go with the Nikon Coolpix series unless you're looking for something really high end. Very nice cameras, and they aren't too expensive.

I really like the quality of Nikon Coolpix... BUT, I have had 2 Nikons (both 995's) that developed bad pixel soon after I got them..... Really annoying. I can't say what the other models are like but the old 995 really blows when it comes to that. But, I love the macro shots + quality.

I have a Sony DSC-T1, it's a fantastic Camera.

It takes Fantastic Pictures at as much as 5.1 Megapixels, and its So Small, about the size of a credit card, and has a big beautiful screen.

It's just SO small and slick.

Any Nikon Coolpix, Olympus Camedia or Sony Cybershot iìshould be good enough for you. :)

If you're still to finda a Nikon Coolpix 2500, that's my personal fav. :buttrock:

Im using a Nikon Coolpix 3200, and highly recommend it, you can pick one up for less than 200 bucks. Easy to use and takes great snaps. If you need more pixels look at the 4300.
Avoid Sony at all cost.

why are people saying to avoid sony? they have carl zeiss lens' which are fucking sick as aids.

do people just not like sony as a blood-sucking mega corporation or do they just not like sony cameras?

i've been looking into getting a digi-cam as well, and sony's are pretty high up on my list. for those who said to avoid them, could you elaborate a little more? it would be much appreciated.

The SC-828 8mp SLR has a CZ lens, a great camera but thats big bucks. The compacts use a Sony lens.
They seem bulky and not as user friendly as others, also they use a dedicated battery, coolpix uses Ni-MH AAs which is handy. The cybershot 3.2 (DSC-P72) uses AAs but its a lot bulkier than the Coolpix, in fact I have the Sony and Nikon infront of me at the moment,(my company sells digicams) the Nikon feels and looks a beter designed/quality product.
The featutes per buck ratio doesnt seem so high with the Sony brand imho.
Ive always considered Sony as being over rated.

bottom line is stick to traditional camera manufacturers.
Pentax, Olympus, Canon, Nikon or whatever
Sony, Fuji etc are catching up, they are all good gear

If you just want images of games and CDs, which are flat objects, I would say a scanner would work even better than a digital camera for capturing images of them.

yep
when people will understand that Sony produces the crappiest shit in modern electronic market?
any of guys ever happen to read econmic news? I'm sure not
Sony would now be bankrupt if It wansnt for Playstation to save its ass.did you know that? i'm sure not

All of its older departments (TV, VCR, HiFi) have just been restructured by Kutaragi to become even shittier than before
long ago Sony had traditional rules about quality, now everything went to shit
funny that so many people dont know this and keep buying crap just because looks ~cute (TM)

not saying that everything by Sony is shit
but....
the top-notch stuff is anyway so highly overpriced that aint worth getting
there're equally good products at half the price, and unless you're a rich moron or a metrosexual faggot, i dont see ANY reason why anybody should get a Sony product

I've been eyeing the Canon S1 IS lately... 10x optical zoom, Image Stabilization, 1hour video recording capability with a 1GB card, takes CF.... A dream camera.
