How many game stores does your town have?

I look at my town, and we have four on one block. A Gamestop, Babbages, Ebgames, and Gamerush ( a separate store, not a section in the corner of a blockbuster). The reason I mention this anybody remember when there was comic book stores on every corner in town, I wonder if game stores will go the way of the dinosaur like comic shops.

None.

But if I take the bus to Aarhus, about ten miles away, there are four EBGames', a GAME and a privately owned shop that's, unfortunately, in the midst of a clear-out sale. I guess the competition from all the EBGames stores was too much.

But I mostly buy shit over the internet anyways.

I think we have 3 EB games and use to have Gamebusters but they got burnt to the ground. :(

Gamebusters was the best...they had everything from oldschool games to todays games. I miss them alot and I was a 10 year member. I rented so much from them...now there gone. :crying:

We've just got a few of the typical national chains - Gamestop, EB World, etc.

Oh yeah, and we've got Buy-Rite in Raleigh .... ya gotta fucking love that. :tickled:

A newly opened Gamestop and EB Games 5 driving minutes from my house.

But Starland is king!

Too bad I have to drive 2.5 hours to check out teh importage.

Who gives a shit about Gamestop anyway?

They lost 110% of my respect when they stopped the old school gaming thing. When my new local Gamestop opened, it just felt strange first walking into the store smelling new carpet but then realizing there's no shelf of 1000 NES, SNES or Genesis cartridges or accessories to choose from.

Too many and they all suck. I usually just order from various sits or trade with friends and forum members.

2 EBs
2 Gamestops
2 Videogame and music exchange
2 Trading Zone

Plus all the Meijers, Wal-Mart, Best-Buy, Media Play ect ect....

EB, Gamestop, Harvey's (Independent Game Shop)

Then the chains that carry games...Fye, KBToys.

The EB in town is sort of worthless.

The Gamestop is actually pretty good since I'm friends with a few of the people that work there and have them reserve stuff/buy stuff for me in their name on employee discount. So I can't say how it good of a shop it is with any objective eye. It's still got tons of nes, genesis, snes, and DC stuff in stock and that's always a huge plus.

None.

It's a 30-40 minute ride to EB/Best Buy from where I am. Rising Sun is known for the KKK, stupid rednecks (thus the KKK) and having only recently acquired a McDonalds. I don't foresee a game store in this town any time soon, if ever.

EB, Babbages, Gameforce, and a couple independent ones called Gamecave and a couple others that slip my mind. Honestly I only buy gaming shit online so I'm never really in any of these places, except when I'm at the mall I might go in EB for a few. If I ever do grab a new game retail it's usually when I'm looking for cheap DVDs at wal-mart.

the only ones that matter are the lil' mom'n'pop type of game shops. everything else is just b.s. corporate crap.. and unfortunately, most places that even have gameshops at all are just places like GameStop, etc.
but to at least attempt to somewhat answer your question, does it even matter? why goto game stores with all this online buying/selling/trading fun to be had?

Pratically all of them are corporate owned cookie-cutter stores. There used to be one (and I can't remember the name) that had anything. The Neo-Geo AES new, import systems months before anyone got the U.S. Versions, old Atari and Turbografx system and games. I wonder if they're still around...I'll try and find out this weekend if possible ;)
