Greedo shot first... AGAIN!

Yeah, we all know, the new upcoming release of the 'once classic' Star Wars trilogy -namely episodes IV, V and VI- is going to propose the movies in a more and more edited form.

Opinions?

As for me, I hate this shit.

I've been reading extensive news and rumors about the whole new editing stuff, and that's a whole buch of crap, made to create consistency with the CRAPPY new trilogy.

This is awful.

Seems all stormtroopers will now talk with the very same Jango Fett voice, thus to lead us believe they're all 'useless clones' (courtesy of Krizalid?)... just the perfect way to have them killed with no politically-correctness issues at all.

The the scenes involving Jabba and other creatures will be CG-edited as well, which is lame as hell IMHO. Man, that marionotte motion, stop motion and stuff was real movie art, not fucking polygons job. The whole CGI frenzy is supposed to affect Yoda as well, which is something CRIMINAL if you ask me.

And what about the actor for the 'behind-the-mask' Vader totally EREASED to match the face of the 'brand panking new' Anakin actor from episode III? Again, courtesy of the CG bullshit.

Man, this is totally bullshit. Let this movies aging for goods, and rest in peace in the 'classic olympus'.

At this rate, with the CGI technology growing more and more powerful, with more and more capabilities, we're going to see a 'new' version of the Star Wars trilogy every half decade...

Yarrrr .... sounds pretty lame. I don't know why Lucas couldn't just simultaneously release the original version, other than the fact that he's a total cocksmoker.

These changes are just too many, and are now to the point where they're going to significantly affect the experience of re-living these classics, even from the perspective of casual fans.

Jim Henson is a god among men, and if Lucas takes some of his more major works (i.e. Yoda) out for CG I feel like killing him.

i dont see how it really matters. you can stick with the originals if you really want too. generally speaking though im not too anal about this kind of stuff....

Well, there's that and the fact that he doesn't acknowledge, at this point, that the original originals even exist. These are HIS films, and if he says Greedo shot first, even though he didn't in the original originals, then fuck you, Greedo shot first.

As far as all of the edits, just buy the bootlegs that were ripped from the LDs and be happy.

Unfortunately we've basically already covered this whole mess in the Star Wars review thread that was put up sometime last week.

If he removed the puppet Yoda there would be HELL to pay. And fuck his green monkey bullshit fight scene.

Yeah, this is already a an old story. The whole 'new trilogy storyline' fucked-up the real feel of the original Star Wars in term of contents and atmosphere.

SW was scienceFICTION, yes, and kinda fantasy fantastic as well, but it had a plot. A serious plot with serious element strogly put in it.

Now, with all the Midichlorians shit, the 'no man get killed' shit, the circus/theme park bullshit... it's all ruined.

If Lucas raped his own work just to give the market an ALTERNATIVE, I would have said just 'screw that', and amen.

But fact is the ORIGINAL trilogy is no way to be released anymore in any day, as for an intention to EREASE the classic.

So fuck Lucas. You've been great, so you were, now you're a dork. Too bad, boo boo and no-no.

the originals still exist as classics surely. if you hate the newer stuff why include it in your idea of star wars. i dont understand how the newer stuff has to detract from the originals... then again could just be me.

Well, simply because when classic are not to be proposed on new media, they're very likely to fade out in general memory.

I have my original SW vhs collection, but hey... vhs are not that durable, you know what I mean.

Why the hell I can buy a complete Kubrick DVD collection, but I will never be able to get a decent REAL ORIGINAL SW dvd release?

Marketing, huh?

Hopefully someday Lucas will die and Criterion will do an acceptable version.
