Do you think it lives up to it's hype as the end all be all of the Gradius series?

Personally, I believe it is the best shooter of all time.

Just picked it up. Playing it as we speak.

OMG, sound and music are AWESOME! :buttrock: Great interface menus.

Btw, isn't Vic Viper the name of an Ender in ZoE 2: 2nd Runner? Doesn't Leo pilot that plane? Just thought of that.

They are both konami games in fact.

I think you are right. I know the Vic Viper is in that game, as it is profiled in the instruction manuel.

Yes, Vic Viper is on Anubis - Zone of the Enders as well, with Options and everything.

The track you listen while fighting against Vic Viper in this game (Leo! Leo!) is actually a remix of a classic Gradius song.

While playing Gradius V you will notice that the game itself is very influenced by Zone of the Enders in terms of aesthetics and music.

Cool, thanks for the info. Yes, I see the relationship between the music and aesthetics. You definitely see the Treasure developer part of it too.

Okay, let the battle continue...

The only reason I went and ordered it right away was for the DVD as I am currently way too busy to play it. I'd be pissed as hell not to get it. That's why I order stuff online because they always seem to come through for the online customers seeing as it's usually in the reciept that you're paying for whatever bonus...

Indeed, I just got finished with a good 3-4 hours of this game. Best Gradius hands down and a great shooter. lus it's freakin' 2 players! This is such a nice game. It also has boos that is so reminiscent of Radiant Silvergun it's not even funny. Thank you Treasure!

This is a great game. Iv only gotten to the third level in normal. But I love what I seen so far. I just hope that they dont give you free play if you die to much. That "feature" blows. And I hate that they did it in Ikaruga.

One question:

Is there a any room for the KONAMI KODE???

Indeed there is one. Input Up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, L2, R2. It Gives you 1 Speed Up, Missile, Double, 4 Options & ? (Force Field).

There is a free play feature also, but you must play for 17 hours and by the time you do that, you will have had abotu 20 credits (because you get a free credit for each hour you play). If you can't beat the game in 20 credits, you need free play. I myself beat it in 7.

Where did you find it for $35? Most game stores in Japan still sell it for ~5,000 yen, and that's used!

I grabbed JP Gradius V with the DVD a while back. It's just such a beauty of a game. I love it.

Blue disc = CD game

Maybe you should pot-tweak the CD lens.
