Hi guys,
This is my first post as my box of goodies arrived from Japan today :-D Including my first AES, I have a step down voltage convertor (Im in the UK) but I get pixaletted rubbish on the screen most of the time and 50% of the time no sound :(

Wiggling the power supply seems to cause the machine to reset or scramble the display further. I have tried 7 carts and all do the same so I suspect the machine. Im going to strip the machine now and give it a good check and clean. Whilst I have it open is there anything specific I should check please?

Additionally, the bottom of the machine states to use a Pro Pow2, the unit came with a Pro Pow - from looking on the forums it is OK to use a Pro Pow on a machine with a Pro Pow2 label on the bottom?

Many thanks

Hello,

It sounds like you need new cartridge slots, because your carts are not making good contact with the slot. This is a common problem. I suppose you can try cleaning the slots with a contact cleaner first, as long as you don't spread the pins open any further, but I think it's more likely that you'll need new tighter slots anyway. They just get loose after awhile. As far as I know, Jeff Kurtz still offers this service. He replaced mine, and comes highly recommended.

While you have your Neo open, take a photo of it and send it my way or post it here -- someone will be able to tell you the proper power adapter to use. Don't go by what you read on that sticker on the bottom -- it's known to be wrong sometimes.

Hi,
Thanks for the fast replies! I just gave it a good clean and cleaned all the carts with contact cleaner - made a huge different although it seems indeed the cart slot may be a little worn as wiggling the cart causes all sorts of spurious results!

Can I buy a new slot to have fitted? A friend is a electronics engineer for a living and will be able to fit it for me. Thanks for the offer of someone who can do it but Im based in the UK.

Im a little confused here... basically if you power on with no game in you should get a solid color screen (blue I think), not garbled gfx. If you are getting constant garbled gfx with go games in I advise you check the bios.

Are any games actually running at all?

Your machine requires a 5v power supply. Both pro-pow and pro-pow2 are 5v, so it's OK.

Check out the nes deck connector part I've done this to multiple nes systems and it works great! I haven't tryed to use it on an aes, but it should work. But be careful from what I see on my mvs slots every other pin set in offset from that of the last:

/\/\ /\/\ /\/\
. /\/\ /\/\

something to this effect, but I don't know if it really matters if they are realigned in that position or just straight:

/\/\ /\/\ /\/\ /\/\ /\/\ ????
