Okay, this really is the dumbest of the dumb types of problems, but for the life of me I can't get it to change. Whenever I go to open a file (in any program), and sometimes in Windows Explorer itself, the files display in "List" instead of "Detail" like they used to some time ago, and they also list by "Date Modified, Descending" instead of "Name, Descending". I used to come across this problem in Win98 and usually by consistently changing the menus back to the way I wanted them, they'd stay that way. Not so this time.

I'm sure the fix for this is something OBSCENELY simple. I've tried looking on Google, but the problem is pretty specific, so its hard to narrow it down.

Open a folder.
Click View menu, select "Details".

If you want this change to affect all folders, go...
Tool Menu, Folder Options, View Tab, Apply to All Folders.

I don't mean to jump on the bandwagon but... I too have windows XP, and I too am lost when it comes to all of this. So I was wondering why I can't see the images at the-magicbox. com - is there some program I need to install?

Sounds like this may be a firewall issue...
