Is 250Watts enough to power 8 PCBs ?

It of course depends on what boarsds you are running, but I would say no. A typical arcade power supply for a single board is 100 W or more. You'll need more power. The idea of having 8 boards powered at once seems awfully wasteful to me, though...

with that set up only the board in use is powered up, so a standard supply would suffice.

On the site it said 2 250watt PSUs sould do it

On the site, it was recommended that 2 computer PSUs at ~250watt can power the multi JAMMA with most PCB boards (One PSU per 4 games)... and on Jameco, they got ATX PSUs rated at 250Watt with 25amps at 5volts, 10amps at 12v etc costing $21... so I could buy 2 and this would give me 500wats with 50amps for 5v etc... at $42.

Right now I am using a ~ + or - 40 watt SC200 table top PSU from jameco on my Neo-Geo MV-1C Supergun, no problems.

Back when I used to have one, I was running 300 watts for every 4 games. So I had two 300 watt power supply and my original 250 watt (to power the monitor) for a total of 850 watts every time it was on. This was a bit overkill, but it worked for me. Of course my electricity bill was pretty high. :make_fac:

500W seems a bit over the top to me, then again you cant have a supply too big (within reason that is) I would have thought a standard Peter Chou type would be OK 5V @15A

Are you certain? To quote the site:

All game boards are powered for instantaneous switching and no "bootup" time. A must for location/coin-op use!

Sorry, I stand corrected, missed that part, in that case 25 amps is too close to the bone, you probably would need two of those supplies.

Is the constant running of all boards really necessary for home use, boot up only takes a few seconds on most boards.
