My first year anniversary is coming up in a couple of weeks. I was going to buy my wife something cool, like an electronic doo-dad that I would have engraved my name on so that she would remember it was from me.

but,

she happened to tell me one day that the first year gift is supposed to be paper. Apparently there is some sort of set rules as to what type of gifts are supposed to be given for each year that we actually stay married.

At first I thought "no problem, money = paper, girls like money.....this gift list is going to be a snap!"

Unbelievably, I was mistaken.

So, does anyone have any ideas of what I should get?

(and no, I don't think "corrected inserts" would go over well)

Dunno wtf your wife is talking about. Set rules? The only special thing we did on our 1 year anniversary is eat a slice of the wedding cake that was kept out in the freezer. As far as gifts go, I bought her a necklace.

Google says she sticks to old traditions. That list is bullshit lie. Buy her monster truck tickets.

Given the high divorce rate in the world these days, I wouldn't bother with yearly traditions seeing as you probably won't even get to cotton.

Um... I mean, buy her a puppy! - Yeah, that's the ticket.

(or if you can find a paper puppy, that'd be fucking key)

Is she into art any ? Perhaps a nice painting in a fancy frame.
By modern standards a clock is the 1st anv. gift. So try both, a clock of sorts ( grandfather clocks are nice ) and the painting.

Some ideas that have to do with paper:

A framed picture of the two of you
A nice photo album with pictures of the two of you
Have your wedding vows written by a professional calligrapher and have them framed
Some kind of print for your home
If she likes books then maybe an old edition of a favorite book
Tickets to an event that she might enjoy
Framing an old postcard from a place that's meaningful to the both of you

This place has nice stuff as well http://www.redenvelope.com/re/gifts...00&clknum=1003&category=/occasion/anniversary

A nice photo album with pictures of the two of you <- A friend of ours made a drawing of us, I can't up-stage this.

Have your wedding vows written by a professional calligrapher and have them framed <- this looks promissing, If I can find out what our vows were

Some kind of print for your home <- I would probably panic, and end up getting a KOF wall scroll.

If she likes books then maybe an old edition of a favorite book <- this might be good.

Tickets to an event that she might enjoy <-I would probably have to attend the event too?

Framing an old postcard from a place that's meaningful to the both of you <-we haven't really gone any where yet.

LOL @ ending up with a KOF wall scroll.

If you got tickets to something of course if would be something you would attend with her. :D

I think a gift certificate for a day spa would be nice as well.

Maybe she just wants toilet paper rolls, since you probably never refill when you use up the last sheet and leave it empty to taunt your wife.
