Okay.

If you can, you might want to check out EB, because they were giving away the soundtrack CD along with the game (while supplies last). I was lucky enough to get my local EB's last soundtrack CD a couple days ago, so you may want to hurry if you care about that stuff.

I went in and saw it and thought about getting it... but saw Silent Hill 3 there which I haven't played yet, so I snagged that instead. I got a lot of Silent Hill catching up to do :(

I've been playing it since Wednesday, ordered mine from Gamestop instead of EB as I've had problems getting the extra stuff from EB before. :(

Overall though I'm a bit disappointed in the game, which is saying something considering I'm the second biggest Silent Hill fanboy here behind Verbatum. Graphics and sound are great, but the gameplay feels kind of boring after playing 1,2 & 3. It just seems like the producers had some really cool ideas and then gave control of the game over to the second-string programmers at KCET while the main team finished SH3.

Overall I kind of equate a game like SH4 to the Metal Slug series. If Slug 3 and X (or in this case SH 1-3) hadn't come out beforehand people would think Slug 5 was really great. SH4 certainly isn't bad, as there's some cool stuff to see but to me it doesn't have nearly the gripping story or replay value of the first 3 in the series. :(

It's a step sideways from SH3. I like it a lot, but 3 & 4 are nowhere near as good as the first 2, as far as story, IMO.

i got this game and i like it very much.
personally, i like 2 the most, 4 2nd, 3 rd.. and i have no played 1, so...

anyway.. i have a bit of a problem with 4.

i'm in the 2nd Subway world and got that 'Filthy Coin' out of the Toy Box and washed it in my sink in 302, then after i go back to the Subway and get to that 'strange vending machine' to use the coin it just keeps saying "i can't use this here.", but supposedly i need to use it at that vending machine to proceed any further in the game....

does anyone know what to do?

thanks

If you did wash it, it should work. Make sure it's the right vending machine and play around with where you're standing. Maybe read the front of the vending machine again. You don't need to do anything else.

maybe minor spoiler:

I just finished the 4th ending (I think that's all of them unless there's a UFO ending), and I have to say, these are the most pedestrian endings of the series. The 21 Sacraments ending is the only one with any bite at all. The main characters of the first three games all had something which tied to them personally and brought them to Silent Hill. Still leagues ahead of the last two Resident Evils though, IMO (Veronica and RE0).
