No shit. I'm Roman Catholic, and a lot of girls I knew were, and tHEY tookt he damned pill. Not only that, but the pill isn't only used to control pregnancy, it also can be used from everything to controlling acne problems to regulating a girls period.

A pharmecist cannot have the right to withhold anything- they don't even know what it's used for. A variety of medications are not used ont he grounds they were originally created.

I'll step in and say while the Catholics stance on this is pro-life, hence why condoms are technically 'against god's will', it really is not Catholics that are the front runners for the pro-life side. Catholics have adopted their policy but stay quiet because they realize its almost an impossibility in this age to not get laughed away if you say condoms are bad.

By and large, Catholicism isn't even considered really to be part of the religious right, in part due to the fact that about half of Catholics are staunch Democrats.

Yeah, the Catholic position has always been against all contraception. The rhythm method is the only form of "birth control" they accept, as far as I know.

Maybe in the abstinence debate, but not the abortion debate.

I understand what they're saying -that its possible for the pill to stop the early parts of a pregnancy (very, very early stages; after all this is how the "morning after pill" works -in that case its a high dosage of birth control hormone designed to shock the female body into not taking the pregnancy) -but a lot of other, non-pill actions can also inadvertantly induce a very early stage (like first few days) "abortion".

Its unfair to characterize this as such because people don't take the pill to stop a pregnancy (like the morning after pill), they take it to prevent them (like a condom).

Cut and dry, its simple.

I can understand/respect someone's right to believe in the pill causing abortions. Hey, it's a free country, so whatever - write your congressman, yada yada yada. But when pharmacists refuse to dispense the drug that they are told to dispense, they should be told to hit the road. These people are professionals, and have no right to impose their morals upon the rest of the population. They are interferring with someone's ability to obtain medical care, making them irresponsible members of the health care community.

And frankly, the world is fucking overpopulated anyway, and has far too many children without responsible and/or loving parents. We don't need any more fucking unwanted kids for God's sake. :oh_no:

I simply cannot fathom the logic of someone who believes that aborting a child is cruel and/or murderous, while bringing an unwanted child into the world (for what will most likely be a life of misery) is compassionate.

The hormonal conditions created by the Pill mean, if that happened, the fertilised egg would not be implanted or survive.

This is how stupid some people are. The pill's primary function is to prevent the eggs from implanting into the membranes. Not to stop egg production/delivery/ovulation.

I really hope, me being a chemist in the pharmaceutical industry, that all the dipshit morons in the world that are opposed to the advancement of the human race don't take any of the drugs that we develop because they are tested on and usually kill many of the animal subjects. This is a freakin' egg that may exist in the fertilized state for about 12 hours. Animals are usually fully developed beings. And no I'm not against animal testing. Just stupid people that don't care about living breathing beings but will argue that life begins at conception.

Not to mention the giant class of unwanted children who are all but doomed to a very rough existence in America's ghettos and poorer areas. Only a religious zealot completely detached from reality would try to deny someone's right to contraceptives. It's wrong from a moral, health, and economic standpoint. We're already bursting at the seams with people we cannot feed or support on this planet.

An pharmacist who tries to push his morality on his customers is in the wrong fucking business. Move on please...get out of the way with your 15th century thinking and allow mankind to advance please.

The pill causing abortions is utter nonsense. I personally hate abortions, and think that there are plenty of families who would love to adopt someone elses mistake, that is just too damn far. I think thats as jackass as saying that a 12 year old incest rape victim should have to carry to term and probably die (along with the baby) because it is gods will.

It's only because of pill and biogenetically and cross bread crops that the entire world isn't starving today.

EDIT: Fun Fact!!! Liam Nicholaus Wiig, or little .0001 percenter as I like to call him is my little nephew of proof that the Pill isn't 100% effective

I'm Pro-Life and this is a bunch of bull.

"The Pill" has medicinal uses. I know because my fiancee and sister have been on it for years completely for medical reasons, and not as a birth control measure.

By all faces there is no logical argument to support this whatsoever. Unlike the anti-aborition argument normally put forth by non rational Pro-Life advocates.

You don't outlaw knives because it could be used to kill someone. This is not an abortion pill, it's a medication that could cause the loss of a child in a remote circumstance, much like many other medications that are perscribed today.

I'm also calling BS on pharmacists being able deny a perscription to somone on the pill. Also while they may be protected by law in some states to have the right to do this, they have to, by law, return your perscription to you so that you may fill it elsewhere.

Still I don't believe they should be allowed that right.
